It's a lame translation of the Filipino adage "bato-bato sa langit, ang matamaan 'wag magalit." But it's a proper warning for this post.
Because of our rather unexpected garnering of first place in the Poem Interpretation contest, some people have alleged that we won through "unfair" means (I quote that word). Many have said that because of the recent win, we have become air heads and feelers. Still others say we dubbed our piece, which was allegedly the reason we won.
Well, here's what we say: WE WERE NEVER UNFAIR, WE HAVE NOT BECOME AIR HEADS, and NO, WE DID NOT DUB OUR PIECE. Although the opening dialogue between me, Idriss and Lam was dubbed so the audience could hear us, the poem itself was recited by us on-site. It was not dubbed. Unfair? How can we be unfair? Did we bribe the judges? You know well that ANHS' teachers have enough pride not to take a bribe for a contest like this. And air head isn't even in our vocabulary. Before the contest even commenced, we had told ourselves: "WIN OR LOSE, WE WILL BE HUMBLE MENDELIANS". You cannot blame us for being jubilant and exalted after it was announced that we won the contest.
WHO'S THE BEST? MENDEL! WHO'S THE BEST? MENDEL! No proud schmuck with a chip on his or her shoulder can change that. Can people JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT IN A CONTEST, THERE ARE LOSERS AND WINNERS, AND THAT THE ODDS CAN'T BE ON YOUR SIDE ALL THE TIME. Duh -- life is a wheel; you have up-times and down-times, but people, IT'S BEST TO KEEP ON GOING!
BATO-BATO SA LANGIT, MATAMAAN 'WAG MAGALIT. You know who the fu--ing hell you are. Haha. Shame on you for throwing groundless accusations at us.
